How the UNSW WAM estimate works
This calculator applies the standard credit-point weighted average used widely across Australian universities: each subject's mark is multiplied by its credit points, the products are summed, and the total is divided by overall credit points. It is pre-set for UNSW Sydney students, but the underlying method is configurable.
Formula
WAM = Σ (mark × credit points) ÷ Σ (credit points)
Example calculation
Marks of 78 (6 CP), 85 (6 CP) and 69 (12 CP): (78 × 6) + (85 × 6) + (69 × 12) = 1,806, over 24 credit points, giving an estimated WAM of 75.25. Press Load example above to reproduce it.
Important considerations
UNSW Sydney may apply its own rules — for example around fail grades, pass/fail subjects, or which subjects count toward a course WAM — and those rules can differ between faculties and courses. AussieGrade does not present this estimate as the university's official method. Always verify your official WAM on your student record, and check the university's published academic information for the rules that apply to your course.
